Reignite Your Fat Burning Metabolism

If I didn’t experience it myself, I wouldn’t have believed it…

By eating a high carbohydrate diet in a strategic and cyclic way, my stalled metabolism has been turned back on – even through menopause. Even with Hashimoto’s (underactive thyroid autoimmune disease) and even with adrenal exhaustion.

….Even through the holidays and not being “perfect”.

I’m one of those “hormonally challenged” types that does everything to the ‘T”, but nothing major happens fat-loss wise. Aside from extreme caloric restriction (which screwed up my metabolism even more), I hang onto body fat for dear life.  It’s a survival mechanism after all – and boy, my survival mechanism is on fleek.

The eating approach I’ve taken over the past 5 years has been low carb – mostly paleo.  I’ve spent almost a year on keto too (very low carb, high fat, moderate protein – using paleo principles with lots of non-starchy veggies). I actually enjoy eating low carb because it makes me feel more balanced and less hangry.

Another important point: I’ve come to appreciate my body as it is – even with a little extra padding.

I’m a size 6-8 – my clothes that I wore a few years ago when I was 15 lbs lighter (and kinda starving myself) still fit fine. I Crossfit and hike and do yoga, practice self care, so I’m really not hating on myself or anything. In fact it’s critical to start any body change journey with self acceptance in order to be successful long term.

This I know for sure.

I was just experimenting with different eating techniques a few colleagues and clients have shared that demonstrated pretty amazing success but went against the nutrition beliefs and “fat is your friend – carbs are your enemy”  trends that are very on point in the functional medicine/nutrition world today. Being a Questioner with Rebel tendency (referring to the book Better than Before), I was all over it.

And what I learned is that it’s important to keep your metabolism guessing.  It’s a concept known as hormesis – or the hormetic effect.  Basically, the body adapts so efficiently when you do the same things all the time, so by switching things up – strategically (this isn’t a free for all) you can stimulate various responses to make your body more dynamic.

So I want to help you shake things up too and experience more food variety for yourself while I guide you through the process.
