DITCHING DOGMA

Try THIS Instead

This internet age that we’re in is a double edged sword.

On the one hand, we literally – in one hand – have the ability to access any public information we desire.

We enter words in the Google search bar and BOOM – pages upon pages of answers await.

Enter a hashtag on Instagram, BOOM, a screen full of images and posts are there to peruse.

But on the other hand, you do know there’s very little oversight on the world wide web, right? Anyone can say or share literally anything and things go viral like wildfire. Which is how trends are born.

Someone shares something interesting or #INCREDIBLE! – about a solution to any common problem – like health, aging or weight – and then they attach perhaps a study – or a doctor – or a celebrity – or an image of ‘washboard abs’ to it – and out of nowhere, it’s the next big thing…

Like ‘perineum sunning ‘(Google it – or wait, better not 😝).

When you rely more on what’s ‘out there’ and less on common sense and what your body truly needs, buckle in, because you’re going on a ride…

And sometimes that’s OK…

Hey, I’ve been on plenty of these kinda rides along my journey so I don’t want to take that away from you.

But if this ‘ride’ has you driving in circles, breaking down or stuck in a ditch, you have my permission (not that you need it) to take a different path.

Energetically, there’s a very subtle difference between:

1. chasing the latest trends and following that impulsive desire to fix something (like your weight or health)… and then deep diving into the topic or trend to the level that you practically have a PhD in it. 🙋🏻‍♀️

…versus

2. being open and curious with the information or approach that resonates with you…one that makes sense to your brain, yes – but also to your mind, soul, spirit – your nervous system, your gut, your heart and the trillions of cells in your body (they must ALL be on board!). This shiny new diet object must also be practical and doable – you’ve really gotta love it, right?…In this aligned place, you’re approaching this as both a scientist and an intuitive. Experimenting – with no attachment, expectation, force or dogma…just self trust, peace and ease.

Can you FEEL the difference between these two?

No seriously…this is important as we enter a new year and all the ‘New Year – New You’ messages start bombarding your info-sphere…

Take a deep breath, go inside your mind and body….and think about your actual approach to weight, health, diet or exercise (or any aspect of life really). It can be your current approach or one that you’re considering.

Once you dial in to this centered place, check in with your body.

The former (#1) has a tight, tense …dare I say, desperate – almost frantic, energy. Lots of rules to get right there. I equate this to the concept of a “FIXED MINDSET”. Your nervous system is activated. You might confuse this for excitement or motivation…because it can feel like a hit of adrenaline or dopamine – you may be ‘jonesing’ for a hit…so it may even feel good…

Whereas the latter (#2) is open, expansive, neutral, unattached, flowing…you’re empowered, free to change things – make it your own – it’s more aligned – and in the zone of what’s considered a “GROWTH MINDSET”.

If you’re realizing you’re in #1 with something – anything at all…Just keep breathing into it. Step back. Connect.

Access your Higher Brain ….because SHE knows the truth – this part of you can see through the smoke and mirrors…the dogma contained in what’s being evangelized on the interwebs…You’ll notice the pressure, the impulse, the FOMO builds.

Notice the sensation and let it pass.

There’s ALOT that we’re exposed to FASTER than ever before – between TV and print media, social media, email marketing, podcasts, videos, books..even blogs (like this one :)).

The people that are doing amazing on raw vegan, or Paleo, Keto, Carnivore or water fasting – or with Crossfit, Ironman, triathalons or Bikram yoga, perineum sunning or mouth taping… whatever!!!…are only successful because they are aligned in #2 energy….

I’m only successful at my flexible Keto, Intermittent Fasting, with wine and only walking approach – because I aim for everything that I take in and do to be in 100% alignment.

This ^ – along with biochemical individuality, functional and hormonal differences, nutrient and lifestyle factors – are the reason WHY what works AMAZINGLY for one person – might make another one fatter or sicker, stuck or frustrated.

So now you know why – and now you know better….

Tell me where you’ve either fallen into the #1 trap or if you’ve caught it early enough to NOT…I’ve done them both for sure….but more and more lately, I’m tuning-in to what’s aligned – and that’s made all the difference.
